Cooking while Travelling
My girlfriend and I enjoy holidays to holiday houses (aka "bach" in New Zealand), and hotels which have kitchens. It's economical to eat some of your meals in, plus you can enjoy cooking with some of the local produce. We often find scallops, or berry farms, cheese shops... and tons of vineyards in our travels.
What to Bring
Often times, you'll find your in-room kitchen lacking in the things you're used to. Here are some of the things we always bring.
- Wooden chopsticks!
- If you can work a pair of chopsticks, you'll find these an indispensible addition to your travel kit. These are an enormously versatile tool; for everything from looking, scrambling eggs, to getting stuck toast out of the toaster.
- Wine bottle opener
- And/or beer bottle opener, if that's your thing.
- Storage tupperwear
- Just one medium sized container will get more use than you would ever expect.
- Your favorite spices
- Can opener
