You will save a lot of money buying staple dried spices at an Indian spice shop, over your traditional grocery.
Look for these...
- Black pepper
- White pepper
- Chili powder
- Hot Chili powder (darker red)
- Cardamon (still in the shell)
- Cinnamon sticks
- Star Anise
Often times you can also find dried western spices, such as basil, oregano, parsley, sage, thyme, and rosemary.
I usually also find 10 varieties of flour... very worth the trip.
