Rice

You can buy Japanese rice in most asian grocers, but it tends to be expensive.

Another approach is to use White Calrose rice, which closely approximates Japanese tastes.

Ingredients;

  • 1 cup white calrose rice
  • 2 cups water

( any amount is ok; with a 1-to-2 ratio of rice to water )

Cooking;

  1. Put rice and water together in a pot
  2. Cover it
  3. Bring to a boil (usually 3-4 mins on high)
  4. Turn to low
  5. Cook for 20 minutes
    1. Do not remove the lid at any time during cooking!
      1. This is the most common mistake -- there is no need to stir!
  6. Turn off the element
  7. Let stand for another 10 minutes
