Rice
You can buy Japanese rice in most asian grocers, but it tends to be expensive.
Another approach is to use White Calrose rice, which closely approximates Japanese tastes.
Ingredients;
- 1 cup white calrose rice
- 2 cups water
( any amount is ok; with a 1-to-2 ratio of rice to water )
Cooking;
- Put rice and water together in a pot
- Cover it
- Bring to a boil (usually 3-4 mins on high)
- Turn to low
- Cook for 20 minutes
- Do not remove the lid at any time during cooking!
- This is the most common mistake -- there is no need to stir!
- Turn off the element
- Let stand for another 10 minutes
