Unagi / Anago (eel)
Unagi is freshwater eel, while Anago is saltwater eel.
In most cases, you will find it pre-cooked, pre-sauced, and frozen. Basically, ready-to-eat after thawing.
You can make a fantastic dish easily, called unagi donburi (eel with rice), simply by preparing some white rice, cooking the eel lightly, and placing it on top.
As garnishes, use;
- shoyu (soy sauce)
- pickled ginger (shredded, but sliced is also ok)
